Night Write uses her intern position and tries to impress the management by writing copy… does not succeed at all.

So I’m working in the marketing department of this awesome company called Blurb (check us out! www.blurb.com) for the next 3 days. My 2 months of intern duties are quickly coming to a close, and I decided to go out with a bang by writing copy (our copywriter got the boot and there’s a void).
Here’s a section I call “Holiday Gifts for the Narcissist in Each of Us”:
Or, want to save time and give everyone the same thing? Make a book of photos of yourself and give it to all your friends and family. And coworkers.
Needless to say, that will not be published by Blurb. But I think it’s awfully clever. They also weren’t crazy about:
Are you dreading the day after Thanksgiving when Aunt Sue drags you to seven department stores in search of the perfect (and most discounted) gift for every cousin in the family? This year, say ‘No’ to the mall and give a Blurb book to your friends and family for the holidays.
Your book can be about anything: last year’s vacation to the Grand Canyon, Grammy and Gramp’s 65th anniversary, even pictures of your little brother’s stamp collection
…didn’t like the negative spin on the holidays. Holidays are supposed to be happy, people.
And finally, the most offensive:
Happy Thanksgiving!
Now that you’re full of turkey and gravy, why not sit back, relax, and make a Blurb book while you digest?
My boss loved that one… Anyways, I’ll keep trying. Meanwhile, YOU sign up with a book account on Blurb, and maybe you’ll receive some of my REAL copy. Unless they reject it.
